The SMS V4.0 SU3 (English) service update is free to all registered users of SMS V4.0 Service Update 1 (English) and SMS V4.0 Service Update 2 (English). This includes the following software packages:
- SMS V4.0 SU2 - SMS DL, SMS SE, SMS PE, PMCU, GFX/GFX Remote, and WebXTR.
- SMS V4.0 SU3 - SMS DL, SMS SE, and SMS PE. SU3 service update should NOT be installed on a system with SMS v4.2.
This service update contains SMS V4.0 Service Update 2 (English) with device type support for the::
- PowerLogic PM870
- BCM42 100A.
This service update also contains SMS V4.0 Service Update 3 (English) with device type support for the::
- PowerLogic PM750.
- additional system level software enhancements.
SMS V4.0 SU3 (English) must be installed on the same computer as SMS V4.0 Service Update 2 (English). SMS V4.0 SU3 will not install on any previous SMS or GFX versions. SMS V4.0 SU3 will not install on any version of PMCU, GFX Remote, or WebXTR. Existing SMS V4.0 SU2 systems are not required to have Service Update 2 reinstalled. Please refer to the Installation Notes for more information.
Update Installation Directions:
- Create a folder on the SMS servers local hard drive; name the folder SMS_V4_SU3.
- Download the .exe file from the web page called, SMS_V4_SU2_and_SU3_ENG.exe.
- Place SMS_V4_SU2_and_SU3_ENG.exe inside the SMS_V4_SU3 folder.
- Double-click the SMS_V4_SU2_and_SU3_ENG.exe file and unzip its contents. After completion, your directory will have these additional contents:
- SMS_V4_SU2 (Directory with English SU2 install)
- SMS_V4_SU3 (Directory with English SU3 install)
- SMS_V4_Installation_Notes.pdf.
- Make sure that no PowerLogic software is running on the computer before you start a service update installation.
- Open the Installation Notes. Read and follow the instructions within the Installation Notes.PDF.
Data Execution Protection (DEP) is a new Microsoft technology designed to prevent malicious code from running on a computer system. It can be enforced by software and/or hardware. When DEP is enabled/installed, you may not be able to install this version of SMS software.
Software DEP is currently available on these Microsoft Windows operating systems: XP Professional, SP2 and higher; Server 2003, SP1 and higher; Server 2003 R2 (subject to change as Microsoft releases new products); Windows Vista; and Windows 2008. Hardware DEP is either enabled or disabled.
To detect the DEP levels that are on your computer, you can download and run the “Data Execution Prevention” batch file, located below. When you run this batch file, it generates a list of hardware and software DEP settings for your computer. A "NOTICE" document is included in your SMS product box. This notice will provide further information as to how or if DEP affects your SMS installation on your PC.
