POWERLOGIC Satellite Time Synchronization System
August 5, 2003
In a campus wide industrial or commercial environment, accurate time synchronization of POWERLOGIC CM4000 and CM3000 Circuit Monitors, Sepam Protective Relays or Modicon ERT I/O modules is essential. Knowing the sequence in which events occur within the system is required information for power system analysis and troubleshooting. The POWERLOGIC Satellite Time System (STS-3000) can quickly and easily synchronize these devices, enabling users to fully manage their critical power distribution system and assure its reliability.
Using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to provide accurate time and date information, the STS-3000 accepts inputs from GPS antennas and from IRIG-B sources and provides a highly accurate time reference signal in the DCF-77 format. Applications include utility substation automation, sequence-of-events recording (SER), fault location and cause analysis, protective relay trip history, alarm/event records, and power monitoring data logs. The compact STS-3000 can be DIN-rail mounted and offers several advantages compared with more expensive, rack-mounted units and can be used economically on single or multiple devices.
