ION as an OPC Server
Length: 2-3 Hours              


Overview

In this webED session, attendees will enable the ION OPC Server on the ION Enterprise Primary Server. Then students will use the ION OPC Test Client utility to verify that all of the default ION meter registers are exposed as OPC tags. Third party OPC Client software will also be used to verify that the ION OPC Server is working correctly. Finally, attendees will practice adding custom (non-default) registers to the ION OPC Server via Designer and the OPC Server Assistant.



Who should attend

Anyone needing to provide (serve) ION Enterprise data to other 3rd part software programs.

Prerequisites

ION Fundamentals Course from PMU.

Basic knowledge of Designer tool in ION Enterprise.



Students will be able to

 

u    Verify that the ION Enterprise software licence includes the ION OPC Server
u    Enable the ION OPC Server
u    Use ION Real Time Data Test Client to verify the ION registers that are exposed
u    Use a 3rd party OPC Client application to verify the ION registers that are exposed
u    Add custom ION registers to the ION OPC Server
