Power Monitoring: Protecting a Hospital's Lifeline

Critical power can be a matter of life or death in health care facilities. To guarantee a reliable flow of electrical power, a hospital’s critical power supply and all its components must function properly and automatically, even under harsh conditions.

St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill., is no exception. The 730-bed hospital spans more than 1.7 million square feet. A few years ago, maintenance personnel realized they needed to update the hospital’s electrical infrastructure, due to issues with a substation transformer. The electrical shop’s general foreman contacted the engineering services group at Schneider Electric to help conduct a study and determine the cause of the problem. . .Click here for full article. . .

New EGX300 now available in Transparent Ready Equipment TRE-2PowerLogic EGX300 photo
The Square D® PowerLogic® EGX300 integrated gateway server is available as a component and installed in Low Voltage Engineered Power Equipment. All Power Equipment Q2C Product Selectors have been updated to include the EGX300 as product options.

The new EGX300 is an integrated gateway requiring only a web browser and Ethernet network to log and display real-time data and trend plots from up to 64 PowerLogic system devices, including other gateway devices on the same network.

You can now define web pages with real-time and logged data for a basic view of your electrical system at a glance without any other software tool. Its predecessor required Web Page Generator to create and download web pages. The new PowerLogic® EGX300 server has an embedded web page function allowing web page creation with immediate viewing of data from your electrical system. It also supports storage of third-party web pages and documents so one can post instruction bulletins or equipment and system diagrams directly on the EGX300.

The EGX300 is now the preferred gateway for Transparent Ready Equipment Level 2 for the following equipment:
Model 6 MCC, PZ4 and QED-6 Switchgear, QED-S and QED-2
Switchboards.
