Schneider Electric's Square D® Company Awarded
New U.S. Navy and  Marine Corps Task Orders
for Advanced Intelligent Metering
Schneider Electric announced today that its Square D® Company was competitively awarded multiple task orders with Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) for advanced metering projects under Contract N62583-08-D-0137 as part of the Navy's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program. Three task order awards are for the Navy Region Northwest project, with a total value of $31.1 million. Another task order award is for the Marine Corp Base Camp Smedley D. Butler project and is valued at $2.6 million. The work will include designing, procurement, installation, testing and sustaining of building-level, advanced metering solutions in support of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. The projects will assist the Navy and Marine Corps in cost-effectively allocating and managing energy resources. Click here for full press release. . .
Building Owners and Managers Association of Chicago Unveils Plans for Nation's First Commercial Office Building Smart Grid
Seeks $92.7 Million in Federal Stimulus Funds under ARRA
CHICAGO August 6, 2009 – The Building Owners and Managers Association of Chicago (BOMA/Chicago) is aiming to develop the first commercial office building smart grid program in the United States. The organization filed an application to fund half of the program with $92.7 million in matching funds from the U.S. Department of Energy's Smart Grid Investment Grant Program, which was formed under the recently passed American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA). The total cost of BOMA/Chicago’s smart grid program is estimated at $185.4 million.
