Power Monitoring System Helps College Save $2 million

The current issue of Building Operating Management magazine is featuring their Facilities Casebook that includes studies in innovative product applications for today’s facilities. Bill Lekas who is in charge of the San Diego State University’s PowerLogic system has been recognized for saving the college two million dollars. Abstract: With today’s larger university campuses operating almost as cities unto themselves, their energy and power needs have become more and more demanding. The need for reliability is paramount.

Part of the solution for San Diego State University (SDSU) is a cogeneration system that combines two combustion turbines capable of producing 5.2 megawatts each. Steam provides the campus’ heating and cooling, with the excess going into a generator to produce electricity. Read more . . .

New 1-Meter PowerLogic High Density Metering (HDM)

We are pleased to announce that the new 1-meter PowerLogic High Density Metering (HDM) cabinet has been released and is available for sale. The new 1-meter HDM is engineered to provide affordable energy monitoring for commercial property/facility customers, including office complexes and malls, and is ideal for new construction or retrofit installations.


1-Meter HDM Feature Highlights

  • ANSI C12.16. 1.0 and ANSI C12.20. 0.5 Accuracy Class compliant metering
  • Available with either the PowerLogic PM210 or PowerLogic PM750 or PowerLogic ION6200 meter types.
  • Rugged, lockable, steel construction, available in Type 1 (indoor) and Type 3R (outdoor) forms Available in 120/240 volt (12) single phase, 120/208 volt (12) single phase, 240 volt (12) three phase, 277/480 volt (48) three phase, and 480 volt 3-wire (4T) three phase
  • Standard RS485 Modbus® communication
  • Compatible with a wide range of PowerLogic energy management software or integrate with existing RTUs or energy management systems

Product Spotlight
Schneider Electric announces the release of its newest Square D® brand PowerLogic® PM750 meter. The PM750 meter is an ideal replacement for analog meters as stand-alone metering in custom panels, switchboards, switchgear, gensets, motor control centers and UPS systems. The ultra-compact 700 series power meters have I/O capabilities ideal for commercial building load control applications as well as monitoring pulses from other utility meters (ex. Water, Air, Gas, Steam).  These power meters are easily mounted without tools (just two clips) and have a mounting depth of only 50 mm. Read more . . .
